Oxfordshire council has proposed that the children’s centres will be replaced with eight centres for families and children aged 0-19.
Under the proposals, the authority will save half of its overall £16m budget for children’s centres.
A consultation to the public on three options will be opening to the public at the beginning of October, and will run until the end of the year.
Oxford council, however, has voiced unanimous opposition to the plans.
“We see it as a political set of priorities,” said David Thomas, Green group shadow member for inequality, young people and community safety.
“When it comes to budget time in April, we always try and protect children’s centres. We know it is possible to negotiate other ways of saving money. There are always efficiencies that can be made,” he said.
