Speaking at the National Day Nursery Association conference earlier this week, Liz Elsom, divisional manager, Children's Policy and Frameworks for the watchdog, said a change in inspectorate would not lead to a change in inspector.
"If we do proceed then the same inspectors will move to whoever we outsource from, so we're very much hoping that there won't be any difference at all in terms of inspection for the sector," she said.
Ofsted previously said that a key reason for considering the outsourcing of early years inspection was that their inspectors feel "demotivated and undervalued".
