Education Secretary Gillian Keegan’s announced last week that the bill will not progress to a third reading in parliament

Speaking at the launch of the inspectorate’s annual report, Amanda Spielman, expressed her "disappointment" over the shelving of the bill and told CYP Now that Ofsted is “working closely with the Department for Education” to produce a response to the SEND and alternative provision green paper, which was published in March, early next year.

The review recommends a more inclusive approach to mainstream education for children with SEND as well as the digitalisation of education, health and care plans and changes to how parents can pick school options for their children with SEND.
