Ofsted praises 'significant' improvements at council's children's services

The improvement notice was issued to the council after it was rated “inadequate” by Ofsted in 2019, demanding leaders deliver on a number of actions informed by Ofsted’s recommendations for improvement.

The notice has been lifted after Ofsted found the services to be “good” overall on a visit between 30 January to 10 February 2023. Inspectors noted that the leadership team has made “significant and sustained changes” in all practice and leadership areas identified for improvement.

The inspection report notes that senior leaders and councillors are clear about their strengths and what improvements are still needed to improve delivery, adding that they have secured significant investment to develop the services further.
