Ofsted hails 'significant' children's services improvements in Darlington

Ofsted has found “steady and sustained” progress at Darlington Council's children’s services, noting "significant improvements" since its previous inspection.

The inspection found that children’s experiences of social care had “significantly improved” since a previous inspection in 2018, with inspectors judging Darlington’s children’s services to be “good” overall.

The inspection report adds that the council's group director and his leadership team have made “steady and sustained progress to build a child-focused service”, which caters to the needs of children and family across all levels of vulnerability and risk.

“Strong political support, challenge and accountability can be seen at every level, as well as how the local authority fulfils its functions as a corporate parent,” the report states.
