North Yorkshire DCS knighted in King's New Year Honours

The corporate director for children’s services (DCS) at North Yorkshire County Council, Stuart Carlton has received a knighthood in the King’s New Year Honours.

Stuart Carlton has been recognised for his work supporting children over more than three decades

Carlton, who has worked for the council since 2017, was awarded the honour for services to children, young people and families across a 35-year career.

Also recognised in the New Year Honours list is Florence Kroll, DCS at the Royal Borough of Greenwich, who received a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to education. 

Former Camden Council DCS and executive director of supporting people, Martin Pratt has also been awarded a CBE for services to children, young people and families. Pratt, who spent nearly a decade at Camden before leaving in July 2023, is currently a board member at the Youth Justice Board and chair of trustees at the Young Camden Foundation.
