Youth Focus North East and NE Youth have formed the North East Youth Alliance.

The partnership has been backed by £993,950 of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Some 70 per cent of the funding will go towards supporting a five-year programme of work to address some of the immediate challenges caused by Covid-19.

It will also address issues including workforce development, business development, support around safeguarding and training, practitioner support and future sustainability.

Young people using services provided by both organisations will be asked to put forward their ideas on shaping the future of the youth work sector in the region, the alliance said.
