MyGeneration founder Shaun Bailey to fight on for youth work in wake of election defeat

Prominent youth worker Shaun Bailey has pledged to continue to fight to keep youth issues on the political agenda after losing out in his bid to become Conservative MP for Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush.

The founder of youth charity MyGeneration, Bailey represented a new wave of Tory MPs with a more youthful image. But he lost out in his first attempt to get into parliament, after Labour MP Andy Slaughter retained his seat, representing the newly formed constituency.

"What has surprised me is that a lot of people thought I'd be really torn up about this. I think it's a big thing to win but probably not such a big thing to lose," he told CYP Now. "I often tell young people you have to keep trying and come back from a knock so it's another chance to practise what I preach."
