A new approach to improve employment preparation for young people entering the evolving job market has been proposed by MPs in the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Youth Affairs, after its inquiry found that a third of young people are concerned that roles they are interested in will be replaced by advancements in AI.

A further four in 10 young people said they feel worried about future employment, and nearly a third feel unprepared for the evolving workforce, the inquiry found.

The report – which was launched in parliament with a meeting attended by young representatives from the British Youth Council and YMCA England and Wales – notes that though advancements in AI has the potential to displace jobs it may also lead to the creation of new careers, but warns that education and training must adapt to ensure young people are equipped for these roles.
