Looked-after children: Group formed by four providers

Children's social care has a major new player in the market after the merger of four independent care providers.

After months of negotiation, Green Corns, Herts Care, Farrow House andCambrian Care are now all part of the newly-formed Continuum Group. Themerger creates one of the UK's largest care providers.

Chief executive Steve Parkin told Children Now that the group wanted todevelop partnerships with local authorities. "If a local authority has aneed for group care and wants to access our capability, we will look toinvest in and purchase homes to offer the right service for them," hesaid.

The group offers continuous care for a child from crisis support in achildren's home to foster care. The group, backed by venture capitalists3i, offers health, education and care for looked-after children.
