Lack of opportunity and low confidence key barriers to entering work, young people say

Low self-confidence and a lack of opportunities are among reasons cited by young people as barriers to securing work, a report by The Prince's Trust finds.

More than a third of young people polled in the research, carried out with the LadBible Group, said money, lack of self-confidence, lack of experienc, and the increased cost of living were barriers to achieving career goals.

The current economic climate has also led to young people planning for the short term, according to the report, with 57 per cent of those asked saying that they have lowered their career aspirations in the past two years.

More than half of young people said the cost of living was having the biggest impact on their future plans while more than four in 10 attributed this to the UK economy.
