
A county council spokesman confirmed that the allegations centre on its school transport office where it is alleged photographs of children with disabilities were posted on a wall and ridiculed.
The photographs were sent by the children’s parents to apply for school bus passes.
The spokesman added: "The county council totally condemns any such behaviour. We expect the highest standards of professional conduct from all staff.
"Accordingly, these allegations are being dealt with very urgently and the member of staff involved in this issue has been suspended while a disciplinary hearing takes place in accordance with county council procedures."
Kent County Council is one of 99 councils to have signed up to the Every Disabled Child Matters local authority charter.
Among the pledges in the charter the council has signed up to is that "all staff have received both disability equality training and training to ensure that they have core competencies to work with disabled children".
