Research carried out by the University of North Carolina and Duke University Medical Centre found that a CD asking children to imagine healing scenarios helped combat stomach pain.
In the study, published in the journal Paediatrics, children were given 20-minute sessions of "guided imagery" which prompts them to think of things that will reduce their pain.
A total of 34 children aged between six and 15 took part in the study, with half of them using the CD daily for eight weeks and the rest receiving normal treatment.
