Haringey appoints former DCS as council chief executive

Haringey Council has appointed a former director of children's services as its new chief executive.

Following a unanimous decision by a cross-party recruitment panel, Kevin Crompton, currently chief executive at Luton Borough Council, was appointed pending the ratification of the full council.

He has worked in eight local authorities in positions including the director of children's services at Solihull Metropolitan Council.

Council leader Claire Kober said: "We were determined to find an outstanding chief executive to join Haringey and are convinced that Kevin is that person.

"We are confident that Kevin has the necessary experience, skills and vision to help Haringey fulfil its potential and we very much look forward to working with him."

The former teacher has also worked for local authorities in Surrey, Birmingham, Brent, Hackney, Lambeth and Wandsworth.
