1 min read Early Years
An extra 23,000 children have reached a "good" stage of development after the first year of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), according to government figures.

Published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families today, the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile Results shows that 52 per cent of England's under-fives are achieving a good level of development across all areas of the EYFS. This is a three per cent increase on last year.

The gap between achievement in the 30 per cent most deprived areas in England and the rest has also narrowed for the first time since a target of 12 per cent was set in 2004. It is now 16 per cent, one per cent less than last year.
