1 min read Social Care
Children's minister Delyth Morgan has announced the membership of working groups to develop the UK's first Child Internet Safety Strategy.

The four groups are part of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety and will implement the recommendations of Professor Tanya Byron's review, Safe Children in a Digital World.

The industry standards group, chaired by Amanda Jordan, co-founder of Corporate Citizenship, will develop codes of practice that will be consistent across the EU.

The better education group, chaired by Niel McLean, executive director of Becta, will focus on comprehensive support and information to children, families and the children's workforce.

The video games group will be chaired by former director at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Brian Leonard, while Clive Michel of Child Exploitation & Online Protection will chair the group developing a public awareness campaign on internet safety.

"These groups will enable us to swiftly carry forward the work urgently needed to ensure children and young people are rightfully protected from harmful materials contained within new technologies and media," said Morgan.
