Grants for early years buildings in Northern Ireland

Early years providers in Northern Ireland can apply for government grants of up to 100,000 to improve buildings and outdoor spaces.

The Department of Education funding is open to Sure Start projects and voluntary groups that are part of the Pre-school Education Expansion Programme. It is targeted at those that are addressing health and safety standards and inspection recommendations, services in disadvantaged or rural areas and proposals to improve access for people with special needs.

The deadline for applications is 7 May and providers must apply through area childcare partnerships.

Siobhan Fitzpatrick, chief executive of charity Early Years, said: "We are encouraged by this move to match the quality of the infrastructure to the range of services already provided for young children."
