Seventy seven councils, including the 10 areas that are part of the Tackling Knives Action Programme, will receive £25,000 each to provide activities that will be decided by young people.
Children's minister Beverley Hughes said: "We know that Friday and Saturday nights are a hotspot time for antisocial behaviour, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

"Bolton Lads & Girls Club has opened its doors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the past 10 years."
