
The charity’s Family Friendly Report Card 2011 awards the UK a "D plus" grade for its status as a family-friendly society – down on last year’s grade of "C minus".
It found that the economic climate and a considerable squeeze on public and family finances have made life increasingly difficult.
The report follows separate polling by FPI showing more than half of parents (54 per cent) believe family life is in crisis.
A total of 76 per cent said stress is undermining family life in the UK, with the main reasons cited being financial pressures (67 per cent), long working hours (37 per cent) and concerns about possible unemployment (24 per cent).
