Primary schools in England are on course to meet Government targets for providing childcare in extended schools, but concerns persist among head teachers.

A survey commissioned by the Department for Education and Skills foundthat 16 per cent of primary schools currently provide the full childcareoffer, compared to just two per cent in 2005. The report found that ifall of the schools that intend to offer childcare within the next twoyears do so, the Government's target of half of primary schoolsproviding the full childcare offer by 2008 will be "easily met".
