New figures reveal that only 10 per cent of schools are activelyinvolved in the new structures set up by the Government to support theprogramme.
The research, published by the National Foundation for EducationalResearch on behalf of the Local Government Association, providesevidence to support calls for an amendment to the Education Billrequiring schools to promote Every Child Matters, and not juststandards.
Conservative councillor Les Lawrence, chairman of the association'schildren and young people board, said: "If you truly want to achieve thefive outcomes, we would like the duty to co-operate placed upon schools.Ministers must help to make sure that all schools do everything they canto ensure the all round safety, health and happiness of children and notsimply their educational attainment."
