The charity examined the planning and delivery of family supportservices at 18 Sure Start centres in the UK.
Along with home visits, the researchers highlighted the importance ofemploying a trained and experienced family support team leader,presenting services to families as an "entitlement", promoting centresby word-of-mouth, and involving parents in the design of services.
Mary MacLeod, chief executive of the Family & Parenting Institute, said:"This research shows that children's centres are finding ways to engageexcluded and vulnerable families, and that home visits are essential toidentify and engage those families."
