The so-called education banding tool, called Formulate, will use data capture technology to allocate funding for children with an education, health and care plan (EHCP) based on individual needs.

Designed by Imosphere, a software company specialising in health and social care data capture systems, the tool analyses individual children’s holistic needs in order to determine the level of funding needed and make evidence-based decisions on top-up boosts.

The introduction of the banding tool aims to save time in calculating the level of support needed by individuals to meet the educational outcomes detailed in their EHCPs as well as ensuring that each child or young person is awarded the correct amount of funding they are entitled to.
