The tender has been announced following a recommendation made in the Independent Review of Children’s Social Care, and taken forward by government, to boost foster care sufficiency.
DfE had pledged £27m to increase numbers of foster carers via a recruitment campaign and increase payments for existing carers.
Following an information session for parties interested in the £1m contract, documents released by DfE reveal that the contract is for management consultancy around the set-up of support hubs for foster care recruitment across 10 regions.
The 10 regions include the North East where a pathfinder programme to attract and retain foster carers regionally has already been set up. A further nine regions are expected to be announced in September or early October.
