Experts will discuss the new government’s drive to boost school attendance and pupils’ engagement with learning.

The event will provide a range of ideas for innovative and impactful practice to apply in delegates’ own settings and examine the latest evidence on what improves outcomes for this vulnerable group of children.

Chaired by CYP Now editor Derren Hayes alongside TCES founder and chief executive Thomas Keaney, attendees will hear a keynote speech from former Children’s Commissioner for England and chair of the Centre for Young Lives Anne Longfield on cutting permanent exclusion in schools.

Neil Miller, deputy chief executive officer from the London South East Academies Trust will discuss why are more children missing from school? and Kirsten Roy, head teacher of the National Online School, will lead a session on alternatives to school-based learning.
