Latest quarterly figures for the agency reveal the total amount owed by non-resident parents now stands at 3.8bn pounds, up by 120m pounds on last year.
Of this around 2.2bn pounds is classed as probably uncollectable, due to lack of contact with the non-resident parent by the agency or because payments are suspended, until such time as the individual’s circumstances change.
The Conservatives say the latest figures are further evidence the CSA is failing to ensure non-resident parents make regular payments.
The party’s shadow secretary for work and pensions, Chris Grayling, said one factor that needed to be urgently addressed was non-resident parents living abroad and not making payments.
