Inspectors visited the council in March and found that “since the last inspection in 2018, senior leaders have made significant improvements across all areas of practice and no aspects of practice have deteriorated”.

The report highlights “highly effective and embedded partnership work” modelled by the area’s safeguarding partnership board.

“This impressive approach is found in the family hubs and at the ‘front door for families’ and continues to be woven through work with all children and care leavers,” Ofsted’s report states.

Inspectors also note the “strength” of social work practice in Brighton and Hove, adding that “social workers know their children very well and talk about them with great affection, warmth and care”.
