Coronavirus vaccine: Foster carers should be prioritised for Pfizer jab, campaigners urge

The Fostering Network is urging the government to prioritise all foster carers, regardless of age, amid fears over a shortage of sufficiency of foster carers due to the pandemic.

Phase one of the vaccination programme includes everyone older than 50, as well as residents in care homes for older people and their carers.  

Over a third of foster carers are under 50 years old but The Fostering Network says that foster parents and the children they care for have a higher risk of contracting the virus, as they regularly meet with social workers and other professionals as part of their care.
