An internal report sent to members of the Independent Children’s Homes Association (ICHA), seen by CYP Now, shows that just five per cent of staff in 150 settings across the UK had been forced to take time off sick.
“One company reported a spike in staff self-isolating in the first week, but this appears to have resolved itself,” the memo states.
It goes on to praise staff who have “pulled together” to support vulnerable children during the crisis.
Some workers had volunteered to work for 14 days to support children self-isolating while others have been working away from their own families for 72 hours at a time.
