Nearly 30 per cent of the children's services directors questioned saidextra investment in children's centres was the main thing they wantedout of the Government's comprehensive spending review. And while mostsaid they could meet their 2008 targets for centres, a fifth claimedthat current funding was not enough.
Thirty-one of the 148 directors in England took part and more than 20per cent said sorting out their children's services budget was theirnumber one priority.
Directors were also quizzed on how to boost services for disabledchildren.
Nearly 60 per cent said they would support a public service agreementtarget.
