Children need outdoor play, says Welsh Children's Minister

Health
Children need outdoor play if they are to grow up healthy, according to Welsh Minister for Children, Jane Hutt.
Speaking at a Play Wales conference on adventure play, Hutt said that the Welsh Assembly is committed to promoting outdoor play and learning across the country.

She said the Welsh Foundation Phase emphasises the importance of using the outdoors as a learning environment, by recommending that staff and children are able to work and play outdoors "on a daily basis".

Hutt also highlighted the importance of outdoors play to promote physical activity and teach children about the natural world. She said: "I hope we in Wales continue to break new ground in play thinking."
