Celebrations for first national Sure Start centre week

1 min read Early Years
Events are taking place across England this week to celebrate the first annual National Sure Start Children's Centre Week.

In Derbyshire activities include a petting zoo, storytelling and balloon modelling sessions, during the week of activities (14-18 September).

Meanwhile, Telford & Wrekin Council is staging a promotional event at its Wonderland children's park.

Brighton and Hove's 16 children's centres are marking the week with events such as the creation of a mini-version of the Sussex city.

This involves children playing in miniature houses, shops and local library where they will learn about the importance of healthy eating and reading.

Promoting the work of centres among local parents is the main aim of the week of activities, according to Brighton and Hove's cabinet member for children and young people Vanessa Brown.
