Against the views of several Cabinet members, including Nick Clegg, a smoker, the House of Commons has voted to ban smoking in cars with children, and the Prime Minister has said he will introduce legislation in this parliament. Even Boris Johnson said it was a good thing! I'm absolutely delighted that the ultra-liberalists and anti-nanny-staters have been so comprehensively trounced. And the government has even said, rightly, that it is not the number of convictions that matter, but the reduction in second-hand smoke that children have to breathe. Wonderful!"
