"I'm delighted that MPs have voted decisively in favour of mitochondrial gene replacement therapy. I remain disappointed and saddened that the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church failed to support a measure that will improve the lives of very many children, and remove the certainty of mothers passing on faulty genetic material down the generations. Still, perhaps the Church of England at least will, now, review its position and not try to stop Anglican mothers from benefitting."
