Big Lottery Fund on the hunt for initiatives that prevent offending

1 min read Youth Justice Youth Work
The Big Lottery Fund is to launch an early intervention fund aimed at targeting and supporting young people at risk of offending.

The as yet unnamed fund is likely to prioritise existing initiatives to help them expand as well as schemes with a proven track record of diverting young people away from crime.

The Big Lottery Fund is to start the hunt for organisations to become partners in developing the fund from 12 May. It is ideally looking for a group of organisations led by a major charity to help identify the best schemes UK wide.

Ceri Doyle, The Big Lottery Fund’s director for strategy, performance and learning, said: "This new targeted investment for young people is so important. We will also commission a rigorous evaluation of the impact and value for money of our investment in these initiatives, to see what wider lessons might be drawn for Big’s future funding."
