Baby P serious case review leaked

The full serious case review into the death of Baby P in Haringey has been leaked to a Sunday newspaper.

The Mail on Sunday revealed details of the review that has so far, in line with government guidance, only been published in summary.

Lord Laming, in his review of child protection services published last Thursday, agreed with children's secretary Ed Balls' decision to only disclose full serious case reviews to relevant government departments, inspectors and the agencies directly involved.

Laming's report states: "Serious case reviews inevitably include a great deal of case material that should remain confidential, not only to protect vulnerable people, but also because serious case reviews depend on the cooperation of witnesses, often in a highly charged situation."
