The warning comes from Nagalro, the professional association for family court advisers, children’s guardians and independent social workers, after an assault on a judge at Milton Keynes family court at 12.30pm on 29 November.

A 40-year-old man has since pleaded guilty to one count of assault of a person causing actual bodily harm, one count of criminal damage and a Section 4A public order offence during a hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court on 30 November.

He will be sentenced at South Crown Court at a later date, according to Thames Valley Police.

Nagalro says there is an “there is an urgent need to recognise and address” security issues present in court, "especially for independent social workers and children's guardians".
