On Monday (27 April), these proceedings became open to the media for thefirst time. But the Children and Family Court Advisory Support Service(Cafcass) and Nagalro, which represents children's guardians, childrenand family reporters, and independent social workers, say the changespresent a risk of professionals being unfairly named and shamed.
A spokesman for Cafcass said: "There is a real fear that these changescould lead to harassment from those involved in proceedings and threatsto the safety of family court professionals involved. There isconsiderable unease about this."
Nagalro spokeswoman Alison Paddle said: "Particularly with private lawcases, such as divorce proceedings, people can see themselves as winnersor losers, a feeling that can be heightened if there are media reportsof the case and professionals are named."
