Funding Watch - Children and the arts

1 min read Education
What is it? The Prince's Foundation for Children & the Arts offers funding through its Start programme to organisations that provide opportunities for primary and secondary school pupils to engage with the arts.

How much is on offer? Funding has not been announced for projects that will take place in the 2012/13 school year. For current projects, the Start programme guaranteed one year of funding but aims to work with all its partners for up to three years. It provided a maximum of £15,000 a project a year in years one and two and a maximum of £10,500 in year three.

What will it fund? Start funds cultural venues, such as theatres, museums and galleries, to build partnerships with primary and secondary schools in their local area. Projects that target schools with little access to cultural activities are more likely to receive funding. The aim is to introduce young people to the arts and inspire them to create their own work.
