Youth opportunity fund: How we spent it in ... Wolverhampton

3 mins read Youth Work
The city council is working with grant-making initiative YouthBank to distribute its funding allocation, reports Tim Burke.

The youth service in Wolverhampton had been thinking for a while about setting up an initiative where young people had a say in how money was spent on them, but it never had the necessary funds. Then in 2006 along came the youth opportunity and youth capital funds and gave the council £327,875 to distribute.

Who is on the panels? There are six YouthBank branches spanning six areas of the local authority. A seventh branch has also been created that looks at issue-based and cross-city applications.
