Work Wise: This is what I do - Linzi Gladwell, Horticulturaltherapist Thrive

1 min read Social Care
I work at the Thrive Trunkwell Garden Project in Beech Hill, near Reading in Berkshire.

The project is one of two run by Thrive using gardening to make a difference to the lives of disabled people. Before coming here, I worked at The Loddon School, teaching independence and life skills to young people with autism and learning disabilities. This included maintaining its allotment. I trained as a special needs teacher then undertook a horticulture qualification and I am now a trainee NVQ assessor.

We have just developed a new Secret Garden, which is designed to meet the needs of children and young people with special educational needs. I will be continuing my work with young people - placing more emphasis on them taking responsibility for their garden areas - while offering horticultural training and using the garden to its full potential.
