Children's service manager, Bristol Barnardo's Against Sexual Exploitation (Base) - I am the face of the service, so I deal with any referrals or enquiries. I assess whether we have the resources to deal with a case. If we don't then I can help them explore other options. We only have three full-time practitioners and cover a city of 400,000 people, so sometimes we have to refer people to more generic services.

Young people often don't identify that they are in an exploitative relationship and may be ambivalent about coming to us. We try to engage through practical assistance as this allows us to enter into discussions about their situation.
