
Combining 30 years of social work, management and Westminster political experience, Dawson is keen to get stuck into his new role of chief executive of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW), which he starts on 1 April.
In fact, he is already under way, writing to every local authority across the UK asking them for their time so he can meet with frontline social workers.
"Social work has been underrated and undervalued for far too long and I'm frankly sceptical about the reawakening of interest in social work coming up to the 13th year of this government," says the former Labour MP.
