These vary from returning to education, finding a job or just having the motivation to get up in the morning. We avoid the name 'teachers' because it is a barrier to students who are disaffected with the education system.
I am partly based at Queens Park Rangers in west London. We have a 10-year partership with the Premier League, the Professional Footballers' Association and the Football Foundation through The Prince's Trust Football Initiative. The football link opens doors and more than 11,000 young people have benefited from it so far.
My students are referred through the youth offending scheme, Connexions or their colleges. Some also refer themselves. We try to help them find a fresh direction and develop key skills.
