Central to the success of any organisation is ensuring the quality of its workforce, from the initial recruitment process through to nurturing talented staff with ongoing development opportunities.

Identifying and investing in talent is, in my view, essential in any organisation but particularly in a charity seeking to deliver high impact for service users within an increasingly squeezed funding environment. When budgets are tight, it is critical to continue investment in developing staff and volunteers as any under-investment in your people will always catch up with you.

At Nacro we have been building a new joined-up "people strategy" building on the recognition that our people make us who and what we are. They choose to work for Nacro because they want to make a difference to society and we are committed to offering opportunities for growth and providing the right conditions for this to happen. Currently, we hold an Investors in People silver award and we are keen to progress to gold. We believe there are some key activities that build a talented workforce.
