Interview: Rob Williams, chief executive, 11 Million - Power to the young people

If you're puzzled why this hasn't been plastered all over the national press, it's because this particular takeover is being carried out, not by a consortium of billionaires from the Far East, but by a group of children and young people.

The Premiership champions are one of 400 organisations taking part in the 11 Million Takeover Day on 23 November, which promises to put children and young people "in the decision-making hot seat" in companies, local councils and charities across England. Participating organisations include BSkyB, St John Ambulance, Humberside Police and the Diocese of Gloucester.

"It's a day designed to help organisations bring children and young people in to find out what's it's like to work with them," says 11 Million's chief executive Rob Williams. "We are saying that children are a very positive influence in our society and this is a way of countering some of the negative images and stereotypes about young people which dominate the media."
