The chief executive of Unicef UK tells Derren Hayes why we need an early child guarantee.

Last November, Unicef UK published its Early Moments Matter report which revealed one in three parents of pre-school age children were finding it difficult to access a wide range of support from childcare places to health visitor services. Off the back of the report, Unicef UK has launched a campaign for the creation of a “baby and toddler guarantee” that sets out the support entitlements for young children. The campaign is being spearheaded by Unicef UK chief executive Jon Sparkes, who took up post in January 2022 after 20 years in senior leadership positions at charities including Scope, Crisis and, a decade earlier, at Unicef.
