It is just over a year since Lynn Perry was appointed permanent chief executive at Barnardo's, after six months spent as acting chief executive following Javed Khan stepping down. The fallout from the pandemic, emergence of the cost-of-living crisis and once-in-a-generation review of children's social care are just three of the pressing issues Perry and the charity have grappled with over that time.

Perry, who has spent 14 years at the charity, describes the role as “an incredible privilege” and “an immense responsibility at a time when the need for our services has never been greater”.
