Child psychologist Sam Wass shares tips on how to boost children’s brain development in the first 1,001 days:

Don’t be afraid to take it slow

It’s easy to be in a hurry – but it’s worth taking the time to sit, be slow, and be there together with your child.  

With babies (0- one years) smiles can often last less than a second, which is too fast for a baby to see. Doing simple expressions, and holding them, for much longer than you normally would, gives your baby a chance to figure out what you’re saying and how they should respond.
