Darren Matthews is the first point of contact for youth councils across the country.

I am the first point of contact for youth councils across the country. A big part of what I do involves our Every Young Voice project, which aims to help youth councils represent the views of all young people in their areas. We are running a free three-part training programme for youth councils to ensure they represent the widest possible community.

The course is not about me standing in a classroom lecturing young people. I try to make the sessions as involved as possible. We have used mapping exercises, drama and art to get them to think for themselves. After the first session they go away and do some work with their councils, which allows me to make the follow-on sessions bespoke.
